Small GroupsThere are currently small groups meeting regularly in different areas of our community (Acts 5:42). Small groups are not for members of Christ United Church only, we want anyone who visits to be connected to other people in meaningful relationships not just through casual interactions. By encouraging small group participation we hope those who attend Christ United Church become rooted in God"s Word and spend time with Him throughout the week instead of just experiencing Him on Sundays. We often will have a focus study that we encourage groups to do, but each Small Group is free to decide what they want to study. We normally have a Small group Kick Off at the beginning of the year and the beginning of the school year where we emphasis getting connected beyond Sunday morning, but you can join a group at any time!Currently: Gospel RevolutionWe have multiple groups meeting right now and going through JD Greear's Gospel Revolution video series. This is a study related to his book GOSPEL. Other GroupsOther groups are also meeting and studying books of the Bible, FPU's MOMENTUM and John Ortberg's "It All Goes Back In the Box"SUNDAY MORNINGWe have Sunday School classes for Adults and for Men currently running during our 9:00 service.
Student MinistriesThe CUC Student Ministry has multiple opportunities for students in sixth through twelfth grade to get connected.Wednesday EveningsWe have Wednesday evening classes for 6th through 8th grade and 9th through 12th grade students that meets at 6:30 PM (after our church meal which starts at 5:30 PM). On the first week of each month the Sr. high serves a meal down at the Harvest House (5:30 PM) while the Jr. High students still have their Wednesday evening class. Sunday School From 9:00 to 10:00 each Sunday morning the Jr. High and Sr. High are invited to gather and spend time doing small and practical things that can show God's love to others. Time might be spent baking cookies for those visiting church that Sunday or writing cards to be sent to college students. Hebrews 10:23-25 is the theme behind this ministry oriented time as we seek to show students fun ways they can spur one another on in today's world of simply posting encouragements online! Sunday EveningThere is a Sr. High youth group on Sunday evenings also as we know many students are involved in a lot of school activities and may not be free during the week. This group starts at 6:00 PM and runs until 7:30 PM.Jr. High Small GroupsSometimes a large group setting can be a ton of fun for students, but it can be hard to know what they are taking out of that time. We encourage students (and ask that parents encourage) to be involved in a small group. These groups will study different topics that are relevant to students and also look into what the Bible says about how they should live by doing studies of different Books of the Bible. Currently the Jr. High Girl's small group meets Sunday evening and the Jr. High Guy's small group meets after school on Tuesday. Both groups happen at the church.CUC SoftballIn the summer students 16 years of age and older are welcome to play on one of our church"s softball team. We make it a point to have fun while playing our best and keeping a Christ-like attitude.EventsWe offer a variety of activities throughout the year for teens to connect with their friends and grow in their relationship with Jesus. These include conferences, trips and service
projects. Some events are specifically Sr. High and some are specifically Jr. High. Dorm Week is a spring event for Sr. High students who are invited to live at the church while still attending school as normal and dinners, evening lessons and activities are provided. Fall Retreat is the Jr. High equvilant to Dorm Week although it takes place away from the church and is over a weekend instead of during the school week. In essential beliefs—we have unity.“There is one body and one Spirit…there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…”--Ephesians 4:4-6In non-essential beliefs—we have liberty.“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters…Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. So then each of us will give an account of himself to God…so whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”--Romans 14:1,4,12,22In all our beliefs—we show charity.“…If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge, but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains—but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.”1 Corinthians 13:2The Essentials We BelieveAbout GodGod is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. This is called the Trinity.See: Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Genesis 3:22Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:191 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14About Jesus ChristJesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.See: Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13About the Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of scriptural truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.See: 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:81 Corinthians 2:12; 1Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:28About the BibleThe Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God,, it is the truth without any mixture or error.See: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119: 105, 160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5About Human BeingsPeople are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God. This is called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.See: Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59: 1-2About SalvationSalvation is god’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.See: Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; John 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1About EternityPeople were created to exist forever. We will exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.See: John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

Christ United Church is a community of believers who genuinely care for one another and about you. We are people who really want and need to reach our community for Christ and are willing to do so in fresh and perhaps unusual ways. We have strong basic doctrinal beliefs, yet are far from what most people might stereotype "Church" to look like. You will find shorts rather than ties, terrific modern music and an attitude that "traditions do not define us".Perhaps you have decided that religion has left you empty or wanting more. Good news, we have too. At CUC, we are not about being religious, we are about a relationship, a relationship with God and with those around us.Consider visiting with us any Sunday morning, we would love to meet you. Come, have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, then experience some great music before you hear a deep and relevant message from Brett Karanovich. We trust that you will be surprised and ready to come again. For that matter, get a head start and listen to this week's message now.
